What is always published

Every request’s text, its correspondence with the agency, its disposition, its statutory clock and the documents returned. Votes and contributions are public and attributable to the display name on the account that cast or made them. This is the deal, and it is what makes the public-interest fee-waiver argument work.

What is never published

Your email address, your postal address, your payment details, and the contents of a request you drafted but never submitted. Aletheca is the requester of record on the letters it files, so your name does not appear on correspondence with an agency unless you ask for it to.

Tracking

Aletheca places a tracking pixel on outbound correspondence to agencies and records fetches of it. That applies to messages we send to government bodies, not to messages we send to you. Product analytics are aggregate and carry no advertising identifiers.

Third parties

Authentication is handled by the house through Clerk; payments by Stripe; printing and mailing, inbound mail scanning, and email delivery by the vendors named in our public architecture notes. None of them receive more than the specific data their function requires.
